# Plumfield Library > Plumfield Living Books Library is a private lending library in Denmark, Wisconsin, serving families, educators, and lifelong learners with about 12,000 carefully curated titles centered on truth, goodness, and beauty. We offer book clubs, classes, workshops, and enrichment opportunities, with a branch in Pulaski. The library grew out of the work surrounding Plumfield Moms and a broader commitment to classical education, living books, and the preservation of literary heritage. Rather than focusing primarily on newly published titles, the collection emphasizes books that have demonstrated lasting worth through decades of readership. Many of these works are out of print, overlooked by modern publishing trends, or unavailable through local libraries. Plumfield Library exists to remove barriers between readers and these books. By acquiring, cataloging, and lending carefully selected titles, the library provides families, students, homeschoolers, and schools with access to works that might otherwise remain inaccessible. The collection spans literature, history, biography, science, theology, children’s books, and educational resources, with particular attention given to books that cultivate knowledge, imagination, virtue, and a deeper understanding of the human experience. The library is operated with a stewardship mindset. Resources are directed toward preserving access, maintaining accurate catalog records, and creating practical systems that allow a relatively small organization to serve a growing community. Technology is used to support the mission, not replace it: cataloging, discovery, circulation, and digital tools are developed to make meaningful books easier to find and borrow. At its heart, Plumfield Library is an effort to preserve and share a body of literature that might otherwise fade from public awareness. Its purpose is not merely to store books, but to connect readers with works that have shaped minds, inspired curiosity, and enriched lives across generations. The Library is owned and operated by the Masarik Family: **Sara** is the head librarian and the founder of Plumfield. These rules help preserve the shared space, protect people and pets, and support the calm, gentle rhythm of Plumfield Library. ### Key points - Indoor play is welcome, but no shouting, rough-housing, wrestling, throwing, or hide-and-seek inside the house. - Please do not play on stairs or railings, and children should only be upstairs when a library volunteer or teacher is present. - The bedrooms and many basement areas are always off limits; the living and dining rooms are available only during club days with adult supervision. - Enjoy quiet activities on the couches, such as knitting, crocheting, reading, or visiting, but avoid romping or pillow fights. - The front yard is open for guests, while the side yard, back yard, camper area, and garage are not part of the library. - Park in the cul-de-sac, not in the driveway, for the safety of small children and dogs. - The dogs are friendly, but please let them be, avoid offering toys or food, and do not wrestle or throw things for them. With so many readers enjoying our books, keeping them circulating is one of the most important ways we steward what we have. These rules make it possible to enjoy both indoor play and outdoor space while respecting private areas, farm equipment, and animals. ### Key points - Indoor play is encouraged in the basement children’s area, but no shouting, rough-housing, wrestling, throwing, or hide-and-seek anywhere in the house. - The basement bathroom and living room are open for use, but the basement kitchen, root cellar, back furnace room, and office are not part of the library. - Please do not play on stairs or railings; the bedrooms, all closets, and the second floor are not part of the library. - Quiet, seated activities are welcome on the couches, but no romping or pillow-fighting at any time. - Park on the grass along the driveway or by the shop garage, leaving the main garage area clear for safety. - Do not enter any outbuilding, including the shop, shop garage, or tractor shed, because dangerous tools and farm equipment are stored there. - Outdoor play is welcome within the mowed grass areas, and the gardens may be enjoyed from the pathways only. - The trampoline, swing set, and outdoor playthings are available under parental supervision, with a limit of six children on the trampoline at once. - Hunter the cat may be petted gently, but please do not tease him or try to play with him, as he may nip. - Please watch the chickens from a distance and do not enter their coop or fenced area; avoid picking up eggs you find in the yard.
